Official: Godoric signed for two and a half years at Fenerbahce

Beginning of an article

Fenerbahce of the last two years is no longer the empire that has challenged the Euroleague and after a bad season opener the Turks are trying to stabilize the business. This morning (Friday) we were informed that Igor Kokushkov’s team received significant reinforcement when Marko Godoric returned for another term at the club when he signed for two and a half years.

As you may recall, the Serbian guard was recently cut from the NBA after just one season in the Memphis Grizzlies uniform. Godoric did not fit in as the team wanted and contributed an average of only 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and an assist in 11 minutes per game. Many teams were mentioned as candidates to take over the guard and Maccabi Tel Aviv was also among them but the Serb chose to return to Istanbul where he starred for two years (2017-19) to get his career back on track.

It should be noted that Godoric did not win the Euroleague Cup together with Fenerbahce when he joined only the following season but he managed to reach with the Turks until the final in the 2017-18 season in which they lost to Real Madrid. Throughout the period with the Serbian Fenerbahce he averaged 8.05 points per game to which he added 1.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Godoric also won with the Turks one Turkish championship and a trophy.

So far this season Kokushkov’s side have recorded just five Euroleague victories and suffered ten losses – 15th in the league, the last of which was the most painful and humiliating – 99:62 to Zalgiris Kaunas. In the league their situation is better as Fenerbahce leads the table with ten wins and two losses after 12 rounds.
