Writers of ‘Star Wars’ Royal Payments Required for Novels: Report – Deadline

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, authors Star Wars novels received royal studies for their work. But that practice seems to have come to an end around 2012.

Now, the empire is ready to go back, as group action by the authors of the Star Wars changes and other franchises goes public. They allege that Disney has refused to pay nations over book contracts since it seized Lucasfilms in 2012 in a $ 4 billion contract, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

These writers say Disney has either delayed processing their complaints or put them on checks that rarely a few thousand bucks apiece. And Star Wars licensing is not the only cause of trouble.

The Society of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America is urging authors of other books related to projects from Indiana Jones to Buffy the Vampire Slayer he came up with stories like non-payment, all in situations similar to the Star Wars case. As soon as Disney acquired the premises, the reviews were no longer in the mail.

The WSJ report says that sharing the amount of money to pay is complicated, as the sales and realms of the books involved have changed wildly over time.

A Disney spokesman told the WSJ, “We are carefully reviewing whether any royalties have been lost as a result of construction integration and will take corrective action if this is the case.”

At least half a dozen writers across a range of Disney-owned buildings have reported no reviews, said Mary Robinette Kowal, president of Science Fiction Writers and Fantasy America.
