Many Barcelona fans dream of the day when Xavi will return to the club – to the position of coach. Quite a few of them even wholeheartedly believe that the legendary past midfielder will be able to recreate the tremendous successes that Pep Guardiola knew on the lines. Today (Friday), it seems, Xavi decided to wait a while with the comeback to Camp Nou.

The legendary No. 6 has long been considered a key part of the project of Victor Font, one of the leading candidates in the Barcelona presidential election. Pont has repeatedly stated that if elected, Xavi will be the coach – no matter what the results of Ronald Koeman. Now, as mentioned, has come in line from Xabi himself – who, as I recall, has been coaching Qatari al-Sad in recent years.

“Later it will be time to take the next step in my career. For now, I am focusing on enjoying my time here and taking the opportunity to play a small role in Qatar’s exciting journey to 2022 (then it will host the World Cup),” Xavi said. Did he actually remove himself from being nominated for Barça next season? Well, days will tell.

Will Coutinho be sold as early as January?
He returned to Barcelona as European champion, but it turns out that even with this title, Filippa Coutinho has no place in it. The Catalan media, USA, reported that the Blaugrana is planning to sell the Brazilian as early as next January, despite receiving quite a bit of credit from Ronald Koeman at the beginning of the season.

The reason for the breakup is mostly financial. According to the report, interim president Carles Tuskets has instructed technical director Ramon Planes to balance the club financially and selling players is the fastest option to do so before the upcoming presidential election. Other than that, Barcelona are aiming to add Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia, so the sale of the Brazilian is necessary to comply with La Liga rules.

Coutinho arrived at Barcelona from Liverpool in January for 145 million euros and his first year and a half in the media were unsuccessful, to say the least and in 2018/19 he scored 11 goals in 54 appearances. Last season, as mentioned, he was loaned to Bayern with whom he won the Champions League and this season he started as a car player and has scored three goals in 11 games so far.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will host Valencia tomorrow (Saturday) in order to put together a third consecutive victory and continue their progress up the Spanish league table. It will be a particularly spicy encounter for Ronald Koeman who will meet the Bats 12 years after coaching them and winning the Spanish Cup with them.
