Jamie started his time on Strictly 2020 scoring just 14 points in the first week and 17 in the second – landing in the bottom two.

However, after an impressive concert, the judges chose to save Jamie and instead sent home former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

He and Karen performed significantly better in Week Three, gaining 23 points and moving up to sixth on the board and Week Four saw him develop further, which get 25 impressive points for a cheerful Samba.

As Jamie’s Stitterly 2020 Glitterball campaign kicked off a bit rocky, his Chouple’s Choice in Week Five blew Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) with C + C Music Factory all he did to then out of the water.

Jamie and Karen scored 29 points that were almost perfect with the judges for their lively practice and finished top of the board.

However, Week Six saw disappointment for the pair as they made 24 for their Tango, and finished in the bottom two.

They were eventually rescued by the judges after the dance – making DJ Radio 1’s Clara Amfo the fifth celebrity from the series to leave – with Shirley Ballas once again calling for more “musical” from the Made in Chelsea star.

For Music Week, Jamie and Karen played Jive to Everybody’s Talking About Jamie from the stage music of the same name and matched their score the week before.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep them from the dance-off, where they went face-to-face with JJ Chalmers and Amy Dowden.

In the end, the judges chose to save Jamie, putting him and Karen through to the semi-finals, where the couple had to perform not one but two dances.

They went for Quickstep to thank God I am a country boy and Samba to the last dance at Donna Summer. Despite his best efforts, Jamie and Karen finished in the bottom two again, this time alongside Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice.

However, after dancing the Samba again, the judges decided to save Jamie and Karen, advancing them to the final of Strictly.

Will he be able to pull it out of the bag this weekend? Jamie’s fans need to step in to find out how his Glitterball application is thriving.

Jamie’s tight signing was revealed this morning back in September.

“Here we are again, hoping this time that I can survive long enough for my mother to see me dancing,” he said at the time.

“The reason I do it is to make my mum proud but all I did last year was she was even more pessimistic. Let’s change that this year, we can’t wait !! ”

Last year, Jamie revealed he has some dance experience ahead of the 2019 series.

Telling the audience that he has “a little rhythm,” Laing said he did a contemporary dance course while studying at the University of Leeds.

Unfortunately he had to pull out after injuring his knee.

Following the news, Laing said: “I’m so glad I can’t keep up in the competition, I was so happy to hit the dance floor! I would like to wish the lovely couples every success and hope they enjoy their time at the show as well. ”

This was the first time a competitive show had shown that a celebrity had been forced to pull out of the competition before the live shows had even begun. However, Strictly is notorious for being very intense and has seen celebs hurt over the years and neglected as a result.

In 2009, British long jersey Jade Johnson dropped the show in 2009 after suffering a knee injury in predictions – which also saw her drop out of the London 2012 Olympics.
