What it’s like to be a contestant on the BBC Showcase

MasterChef finally coming back to our TV screens, and we can’t wait! Yes, we missed it MasterChef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace are awesome, but we look forward to it, meeting the new contestants!

Be a competitor to it MasterChef this must be one of the most frightening experiences one can go through. There’s no hiding place in that kitchen – maybe except for the pantry…

What we want to know is what it is indeed like onwards MasterChef? So, we talked to Sandy Tang, who was in the finals of 2020, and found out all about her time on the BBC cookery show.

“First you cook for the crew, then if you like them, that’s when you cook for the judges.”

“The application process for MasterChef starting with an online application form, followed by a telephone interview. If you like them, they’ll invite you to a face-to-face interview where you take a dish to impress the crew. If they like your dish, that’s when you get invited to MasterChef cidsin. ”

“You will continue to do your daily work while filming MasterChef

“I was working as a full-time network consultant at the time of filming. The filming schedule changed at different stages of the competition, but it became more frequent as it neared the final, which was difficult. ”

“You learn from the mistakes of other competitors.”

“I applied MasterChef because I wanted to be a better chef and learn from the best ones, and I did. The other competitors I met were total wealth MasterChef experience. We learned from each other’s cooking and each other’s mistakes as well. Because we all had very different cooking styles, we were able to make a lot of changes exploring the culinary ideas. ”

“The team are always excited to try the food.”

“Everyone, including the team, is keeping an eye on the leftovers and it’s gone the minute any filming is done! ”

“There’s almost no time when you’re not filming. ”

“We got some time off the camera while we cooked, but it wasn’t enough. I wish some of my mistakes went unnoticed. ”

“You choose your own clothes and do your own hair and make-up. Until the final, that is… ”

“We were told we needed to have anything we felt comfortable with, which is why I was always wearing Timberland jeans and boots. And we did our own hair and make-up, except for the final round – I think they wanted to make us feel special with an artist and a stylist. ”

“We didn’t get much time to interact with the critics, but I think that’s for the best. ”

“Unfortunately, I haven’t had much to speak to the food critics, but I think that’s a good thing to be honest. I don’t think these gloomy times may be the best time to talk a little. ”

“The judges come around regularly to check on us and give us a tip or two. ”

“Like, ‘Look where you’re tapping…'”

“From going on MasterChef, I have entered a completely different world – the world of gastronomy and exciting food-related projects. I now work as a recipe developer for brands and companies. I recently worked with Lee Kum Kee developing beautiful recipes using a range of their proven Chinese sauces. I really like to incorporate my creativity and commitment to food into what I do for work. ”
