In the morning confirmed Projector Prof. Nachman Ash That the traffic light scores will be updated today (Sunday), but so far no official announcement has been made in which localities and neighborhoods of study will be renewed. The list was presented on Ynet at the moment, But a final and official list has not yet been published. Education Minister Yoav Galant said tonight that his office has received a list of localities where the opening of the institutions is expected to take place on Tuesday.

“For me, every day that students are in schools and kindergartens is an important day, so I asked the director general of the ministry to make a special effort, to initiate and allow every educational institution and authority prepared for it – to open educational institutions tomorrow morning,” Galant added. In addition, the schools and kindergartens will open on Tuesday. “

At the same time, Jerusalem already knows that almost all the children will stay at home tomorrow. Simultaneously with the transformation of the capital into an orange city at the traffic light rating for the first time since December, this morning parents and students from the city demonstrated demanding to address every neighborhood in the capital, some of which are equal in size to localities in the country.

Studies in kindergartens and grades 1-4 in Jerusalem have not been renewed to date, except in three green neighborhoods: Beit Hakerem, Ramat Motza and Beit Safafa. A number of other neighborhoods meet the criteria set by the Ministry of Health for the resumption of studies, but as stated – they are not addressed according to the number of residents. If the reference is only to the traffic light and not to the vaccinators, the return will be in individual neighborhoods, including Talpiot East.

The Jerusalem Parents’ Forum, which led the demonstration, said that “Due to the unique fabric of the city, the requirement for 70% of vaccinators over the age of 50 in the entire city is unreasonable. The students in the neighborhoods that meet the set target are punished.”

In the Carmon family, who live in the Rehavia neighborhood, the three children – 12-year-old Inbar, 10-year-old Guy and 8-year-old Ziv, said they are eager to return to school, which has not yet opened in the neighborhood. “I’m used to quitting but I feel like I’m not really studying at home, we’re expected to do chores as usual, just like in class and it’s really hard,” said Inbar, Henrietta Szold elementary school student.

“I’m in sixth grade and next year I’m going up to the division. I’m afraid of the admission process to schools with knowledge I lack,” she said. “I’ve been zooming in less and less, and I feel like I’ve been forgotten.”

She said she barely sees the girlfriends, and said she misses more human touch. “I have a lot of friends who do not leave the house at all. They are stressed. There are some who do go out but I still do not get to meet them. I feel it is easier to study in school when I sit in class, even if it is in a capsule and with a mask.”

Roi Carmon, Inbar’s father, said that the last days of the closure were particularly difficult, partly because in the rest of the country students returned to school, while in Jerusalem they did not. “The uncertainty is unbearable. We and they feel like they are just at home, that you can come back and not come back,” he said. “Seeing the rest of the country come back and us not because of bureaucratic decisions becomes more difficult every day. We don’t see the end.”

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon went out to the students and parents who demonstrated there, saying that “in recent days I have been working tirelessly with the Ministry of Health and the Corona Cabinet. I believe that in the coming days we will be able to announce good news and open school in other neighborhoods.” According to him, “just as there are orange cities that have returned to study – so too in Jerusalem orange neighborhoods need to be returned.”

The cities whose children did not return to school last weekend and meanwhile their morbidity has dropped and they have turned yellow are Modi’in-Maccabim-Re’ut, Givat Shmuel, Kiryat Yam, Sakhnin, Ariel, Shefar’am, Maalot Tarshiha and Kiryat Bialik. If even in the map approved by the Corona Cabinet they are defined as such, and there is no change in the guidelines, then the studies in the educational institutions in these cities can be renewed.

In addition, according to the outline, in some of the “borderline orange” cities, studies can take place in schools and kindergartens, but only if the rate of those vaccinated among those aged 50 and over is higher than 70% (this figure does not appear on the Ministry of Health website). Based on current traffic light scores, it is possible that these cities include Rehovot, Netanya, Nahariya, Dimona, Migdal Haemek, Eilat, Tamra, Yokneam Illit and Ma’ale Adumim.

In addition, even in some of the neighborhoods in the big cities it will be possible to return to regular studies in kindergartens and lower grades on the basis of the same definition. In Tel Aviv, these are currently District 9 North (Yad Eliyahu, Tel Haim, Nahalat Yitzhak, Ramat Israel and Bitzaron neighborhoods) and District 1 West (New Ramat Aviv, Plan L and nearby neighborhoods), Haifa in western Haifa, Hadar Darom and Neve Sha’anan, and Jerusalem – in Talpiot East . As mentioned, Jerusalem demands that more neighborhoods be included in the list, if the criteria are the same as those of “borderline orange” cities.

Beer Sheva and Rishon Lezion have meanwhile become border oranges, and there is also a division by neighborhoods. In Rishon Lezion, the Rishonim neighborhoods, Remez and Western Krayot have turned yellow, in Be’er Sheva – Ramot and Neighborhood V. In Petah Tikva, it will be possible to study – subject to the decision and the final map – in District 2 and District 7.

There are also a few places where the morbidity has actually risen. In Tirat Carmel, for example, which was “borderline orange” and had a high rate of vaccination, the traffic light score rose to 6.6 – and at least at the moment the children in the city are not supposed to continue their studies. The same is true in the “Krayot and Haifa Bay” area.
