The UK records a further 4,802 coronavirus cases, 101 deaths

London, March 20 (IANS): Another 4,802 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,285,684, according to official figures released on Friday.

The country also reported 101 other coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 126,026. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test, Xinhua news agency reported.

More than 26.2 million people in Britain received their first injection of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the latest official figures.

Britain also broke the record for coronavirus jabs delivered in a single day with a total of 660,276 doses delivered nationwide on Thursday, government figures showed.

According to the British Department of Health and Social Care, almost 50 per cent of British adults have had an injection.

England’s National Health Service (NHS) has warned that Britain will face a “massive reduction” in vaccine provision from 29 March.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Thursday that the re-testing of 1.7 million vaccine doses as well as delays in doses coming from India are the reasons Britain is facing a supply of “more tight ”in Covid’s job next month. But the government has announced that the country is on course to offer a dose to all adults by the end of July.

To bring life back to normal, countries such as Britain, China, Germany, Russia and the United States have been racing against time to spread coronavirus vaccines.
