Amir Bramley, a businessman and entrepreneur who was convicted of defrauding investors of hundreds of millions of shekels, was scheduled to attend the sentencing hearing in his case, scheduled for today (Wednesday) in the court of Judge Khaled Kabov in the Tel Aviv District Court. Bramley was convicted in the Tel Aviv District Court of stealing a sum of no less than NIS 340 million from more than 400 customers. His trial has been going on in the Tel Aviv district before Judge Kabov since 2016, when the verdict in his case was given last October.
The sentencing hearing, which was scheduled to take place today, has been canceled – and the minutes show that Judge Kabov’s son, who is considered one of the district’s top judges and whose name is mentioned again as a candidate for the Supreme Court, has filed a complaint against Bramley. After filing the complaint again, Bramley was barred from contacting any of the judge’s family members – and he was even arrested again.
According to the minutes, the plaintiff said: “The matter itself is hovering like a fog. It is important for me to say, Mr. Judge knows that my master’s son has filed a complaint, an investigation has been opened from materials found.” The complaint filed by Judge Kabov’s son against Bramley is being investigated and has a restraining order.
Michal Urakbi of the Public Defender’s Office, who represents Bramley, was quoted in the minutes as saying that “We want to consider our steps and see if this case can be heard or not. Unusual circumstances have arisen that we want to think about. This has been done at the highest levels in the defense and the prosecutor’s office. For the past three weeks the defendant has been detained. The state prohibits contact with the judge’s entire family. ”
