Southampton beat Bournemouth 0-3, watch the Redmond duo

The quarter-final stage of the English Cup kicks off today (Saturday) with two games out of four, with the focus on the meeting between Everton and Manchester City at Goodison Park (19:20, live broadcast in Sports 2), But even before that Southampton got their first ticket to the semi-finals thanks to a light 0: 3 in Din Kurt over Bournemouth in the sub-league.

Bournemouth – Southampton 3: 0

In the Premier League, Ralph Hazenhotel’s team is having a particularly disappointing season following its 14th place finish, but in the Cup it can take comfort in having earned its ticket to the last four for the first time in three years. The Saints hosted at Din Kurt took the lead within 10 minutes of the conquest of Cameron Carter-Vickers, but after a VAR check it was decided to disqualify the goal.

However, Southampton managed to finish the half with a double advantage thanks to goals from Musa Genepo (38) and Nathan Redmond (45). At the start of the second half another goal was disallowed in the VAR, this time by Che Adams in the 54th minute, but Redmond completed a double within four minutes and set the score of the game.
