Residents of Mount Hebron protest: “Thousands cross the fence illegally”

Residents of Adora in Mount Hebron demonstrated this morning (Sunday) on Road 35 in protest against the incompetence of the government and security forces in front of the free passage of the Shin Bet in occasional loopholes instead of the orderly passage built with an investment of tens of millions in Tarkumiya.

Every morning, thousands of Arabs pass the separation fence near Lachish without corona checks, without security checks and make their way by buses to Israeli cities.

During the demonstration, a 40-year-old Palestinian man was brought to the road with no pulse. A paramedic from Adora gave him first aid and began to perform CPR on him until the ambulance arrived from Adora.

Farhiya Eyal, a resident of Adora who took part in the demonstration, noted, “We came to the demonstration because we could not stand in traffic jams because thousands of Palestinians were crossing the fence illegally. Minutes after our arrival, a young man was brought here exhausted in the forest and my friends treated him.”

Along with the security danger, heavy traffic loads are created for long hours in the morning as a result of the passage of the Shevahs, which disrupt and regularly endanger the daily routine of all road users.

Yochai Damari, head of the Mount Hebron Regional Council, stated, “This abandonment cannot continue. We are in favor of the livelihoods of our Arab neighbors, but it cannot come at the expense of the livelihoods and security of our residents. The event today proves how impossible this reality is for all passers-by. Transition by a mechanism adapted to absorb the thousands of workers or to open all the passages completely. “
