Qatar- Social awareness to fight against Covid pandemic

(MENAFN – Gulf Times) Qatar has delivered more than 700,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine since the start of the national program.
The speed of Covid-19 vaccination is expected to accelerate as the number of vaccines per week is expected to increase to 180,000-200,000 doses, Dr. Abdullatif al-Khal, chairman of the National Health Strategic Group on Covid-19 and head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, said recently.
That said, the total number of Covid-19 active cases in the country had exceeded 14,000 as of Friday, according to daily data released by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
As of yesterday, there were 126,707,314 confirmed cases in 219 countries and territories. Approximately 2,779,837 people have died so far from the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak.
This clearly confirms that, amid the good news about vaccines, it is important to keep in mind that Covid-19 must be discontinued to comply with public health measures.
The Cabinet of Qatar recently announced a number of measures to stop the release of Covid-19, which, according to our health authorities, has seen an increase in the number of diseases in the past few weeks, with many of the patients requiring hospitalization.
Dr al-Khal emphasized that the data and clinical evidence are clear – ‘If we do not all play our part in pursuing these new constraints in addition to the preventive measures, we will continue to see the number of cases new daily going up every day.
‘If we take responsibility and act appropriately over the next two to three weeks, we can cut this virus off and start seeing a dramatic decline in issues,’ he said.
‘With the holy month of Ramadan approaching in April, we must all do what we can now to be able to control this virus quickly and hopefully reduce some of the limitations of Ramadan and not we can identify Eid.
‘We all have a unique responsibility to play our part in getting through this pandemic. Although we are in a better position this year than last because of the vaccines, at least for now, we must all work together and tighten the measures against Covid-19.
As confirmed in these columns earlier, the pandemic has presented us all with a unique challenge. We are still learning more and more about coronavirus every day, but public health experts warn that you do not have to show symptoms to spread the new coronavirus.
An infected person can become infected as early as three days before the onset of symptoms. In addition, some people never develop symptoms, but they are still able to spread the virus.
Covid-19 pandemic has put a new level of personal accountability on each of us. To slow the spread of coronavirus and protect the health and vitality of our people, we need to remain committed to the additional measures recommended by our public health officials.
At the heart of these preventative measures is the need for constant social pace and taking all warnings seriously – even if one is healthy.
