NIS 50 million Budget increase for widening the “Huwwara Bypass” road to two-lane and two-lane

In a message to the residents of Samaria. The Ministry of Transportation approved a budget increase of NIS 50 million for the expansion of the Huwwara bypass road, between the settlements of Gev Har Har and Ariel and Road 60, from a two-way road with one lane in each direction, to a two-lane road with two lanes in each direction. Minister of Transportation: “The road bypassing Huwwara is of strategic importance while connecting the localities of Gev Har, Itamar, Alon Mora and Har Bracha to the center of the country.”

The Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Brigadier General Miri Regev, instructed to carry out the budget increase for the widening of the road in the amount of NIS 50 million, in favor of widening the road and following the recommendation of the professional bodies in charge of carrying out the project.

Last week, Netivei Israel began paving Road bypasses Huwwara, From the flagship projects led by the settlement, at a total cost of NIS 300 million. The 7.5-kilometer-long road connects the settlements at the back of the mountain – Itamar, Elon Moreh and Har Bracha, with Road 60, the city of Ariel and the center of the country. At this point, the paving of the road began as a two-way road with one lane in each direction. Today (Wednesday), Minister Regev instructed to expand it to 2 lanes in each direction, and to allow safer and more secure access to the mountain ridge settlements.

As part of Netivei Israel’s work on the road, a two-lane road will be paved, between Tapuach Junction and Yitzhar Junction, and many safety projects will be carried out, including arranging Tapuach Junction as a traffic light junction, establishing an interchange at Yitzhar Junction, paving creeping paths, bridging Paving two agricultural crossings to create a sequence of access to the cultivation of the areas and the installation of road lighting along the entire route.

Minister Regev noted that today, the roads of Judea and Samaria are characterized by the active movement of Israeli and Palestinian vehicles around the clock. In many places in the Judea and Samaria area, the level of infrastructure is insufficient, and this causes a risk to human life, traffic congestion and a low level of service for drivers.

This strategic road is part of a master plan for transportation 2040, which is being led by Minister Regev as part of a transportation revolution in Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley. This is in addition to the Lev Yehuda road to El Arub, the doubling of the tunnels in Gush Etzion, the Markem Chaim road at the entrance to Ma’ale Adumim, Qalandiya and Hizma in Binyamin and Road 55 in Samaria.

Transport Minister Miri Regev: “I am happy with the great news we are bringing to the settlement today. When I took office I found a number of strategic settlement projects that had suffered from procrastination and decided to lead with determination to carry them out. The Huwwara bypass road is of strategic importance while connecting the localities of Gev Har, Itamar, Alon Mora and Har Bracha to the center of the country. In infrastructure, in public transportation, on all those roads that connect Judea and Samaria to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, to the north of the country and to the south – this is how we connect Israel in Judea and Samaria as well. We want the fabric of life to allow Israelis and Palestinians to travel on the roads of Samaria in safety and security. I would like to thank the head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, who worked hard to promote the project out of an understanding of the need for transportation and safety for the residents of the area. “
