macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 update is now available with WebKit fix

Apple on Monday released macOS Big Sur 11.2.3, an update to the Mac operating system. It contains security updates and is “recommended for all users.”

According to the press releases, there is only one patch in this update. It’s for WebKit, and the update stops a “memory corruption issue” that a malicious website could use to execute code without your knowledge. Apple also fixed a similar issue in iOS 14:

  • Impact: Processing poorly designed web content may result in the execution of arbitrary code.
  • Description: The issue of memory corruption was addressed with better proof.
  • CVE-2021-1844: Clément Lecigne of Google Risk Analysis Group, Alison Huffman of Microsoft Vulnerability Research
