“Strong women come in amazing packages, and when I say strong, I mean not only will, but we have three mothers in this story and we’ll see what it is. motherhood for different women and how to handle that responsibility and how to define their role. “

The film sees the star Undeserved reunite with Kevin Costner.

The pair have recently played Superman’s adoptive parents in the DC movies and Lane says they knew they wanted to work together again.

“It was just a little too short for the Superman movies and we just knew we had to find the right stuff and I was thankful it was [Let Him Go] my path came and I was able to show it to Kevin.

“He knows a good screenshot when he reads one, he’s definitely a man of taste and performance, so he’s not going to mink words.

“When he signed up, I knew we would have a good time because of our chemistry. And because there are so many different elements coming together in the story that Kevin can incorporate with just his presence – yes it gives so much character. “

The film, an adaptation from the book of the same name, is not a heavy talk but it is clear from the outset that the characters Lane and Costner have long been married.

Lane says that’s one thing that drew her to the story.

“We are a 30 year marriage that we are immersing ourselves in and as people who can prove for long term relationships, it gets smaller and without long conversations and more about it, you know. , the corner of your mouth goes up and the others like ‘What? What? ‘

“Because you can read each other’s minds and body language and you know each other’s history well and you know how each other thinks.

“It will allow more space for chemistry to fill the gaps.”

The film also features actress Leslie Manville as the main master of the family whose granddaughter the Blackledges are now trying to find.

Lane is so eager to talk about her British co-star, who will starred as Princess Margaret in the fifth series of the Crown, that she asks during the interview if we can talk to her.

“Oh, I love her, she’s a strong, world-class actress, because I got to work with her here and the scenes we got to do together were enough to make me want to be in the film at least.

“It’s just so good energy and we got coffee here or a glass of wine there, and it’s so nice – I’m definitely missing that kind of opportunity now with our global situation. “

With a face-to-face meeting off the cards for now, Lane is relieved that he burned Let Him Go last year, ahead of time. pandemic virus infection he grabbed.

“I would say this is a great gift from 2019, good memories – even though it’s a sad film.

“It’s a great film I think, it combines elements – you have the family, you have the relationship, and you definitely have this road trip that is going to be kind of hurtful.

“It’s not a fairy tale version of a film… As it ends, you just say, ‘wow’, and you think things are going to be wrapped up in a certain way and the then it’s not that, it’s something else. it’s like you in a more interesting way, I think. “
