Interior Minister Aryeh Deri spoke yesterday (Thursday) with Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsene Abkov about the opening of the skies between the two countries and the arrival of Israelis to Uman soon.

The lengthy conversation took place after internal discussions and staff meetings held by Minister Deri in his office. The interior ministers of Israel and Ukraine reached agreements after lengthy discussions.

In the first phase, two teams from both countries will be established. The first team will deal with the entry of citizens from both countries and the possibility of free entry for those who meet the definitions they will determine. A second team will deal with the preparation for the absorption of thousands of nationalists on Rosh Hashanah.

Immediately after the long discussions and the outline agreed by Interior Minister Deri and Interior Minister Abkov, Deri sent the outline to Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Kornichuk. The outline was closed in full coordination with Israeli Health Minister Yuli Edelstein.

Interior Minister Deri: “Although there is still time until Rosh Hashanah, we have decided to address the issue now and help tens of thousands of Israelis who travel throughout the year to Uman and especially to commemorate Rabbi Nachman on Rosh Hashanah. I thank Interior Minister Abkov and Ambassador Kornichuk. The discussions were long, but the result will help tens of thousands of believers. ”

Interior Minister Abkov congratulated Minister Deri and said that his country was open to accepting the Israelis who have been coming to Uman for centuries: “I want to congratulate Minister Deri. He was determined to end the procedure and I believe that very soon both teams, Israeli and Ukrainian, will submit their recommendations. Soon, certainly on Rosh Hashanah, Israelis will be able to return to Uman and pray. “

The coordination between the Israeli Minister of the Interior and the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior was led by the Chief Rabbi of Kiev, Rabbi Yonatan Markowitz.
