Get ready for a Ferrari SUV

An early tester for Ferrari’s Purosangue crossover SUV was seen again, and this time we have a video.

It may look like the lost Maserati Levante, but there are a number of clues that show it as a test mule. For example, the rear doors are much shorter than on the Levante. The instrument’s browser hood is also different, and the section from the tester’s A-phillar seems to be wider and longer. We also see large carbon-ceramic brake rotors. Previous test mills used modified Lusso Ferrari GTC4 bodies to hide the new mechanics, the model that will directly replace the Purosangue.

Ferrari boss Louis Camilleri unveiled the Purosangue name for the 2018 SUV, which is in Italian for “hidden.” He said at the time that the vehicle will not reach the market in 2020 as previously expected, Sergio Marchionne. Instead, Camilleri stressed the need to make the controversial controversy with the Ferrari lineup completely “perfect,” meaning that its development will not be torn apart.

It will be underpinned by a new mid-engine platform that Ferrari is developing for its major future rotation models, such as new ones for the Portofino, Roma and 812 Superfast. The platform adds to the new mid-engine architecture that came down in the Stradale SF90.

Both platforms incorporate hybrid technology but the mid-engine platform allows front with the capability of a non-electric wheel drive system and two sets of seats for a maximum of four seats. The mid-engine platform also features a transaxle transmission, specifically a two-ear unit, for better weight balance and packing.

The Purosangue is expected to offer a V-12 engine, which looks like some form of electrification, in addition to a V-8 base that is also electrified. Interestingly, there are rumors that the SUV will be the first Ferrari electric battery car to be charged around 2025, possibly a variant of the Purosangue.

It is not clear what the Purosangue will look like but we have heard before that it comes with four doors. The rear doors may look like suicide-style doors similar to those used on the Mazda RX-8 sports car, which allowed the Ferrari design team to retain a coupe-like side view.

Since we are only at the stage of test stacks, that could be six months to a year before the first prototypes with a real Purosangue body hit the road. The story should be carried forward in 2022, meaning the vehicle is likely to be sold as a 2023 model.

The Purosangue is just one of several models Ferrari will introduce by the end of 2022, some of which will be powered by a new V-6 engine. Beyond this date, Ferrari will bring its last surrogate to LaFerrari – who may already be undergoing testing.
