Marin from the eighth league will try tomorrow to register the biggest sensation in the history of the English Cup against Tottenham, but already today (Saturday) we received a mini-surprise in the last 64 stage. Chorley, ranked sixth in the sixth division in England, ousted the Derby from the Championship after a 0-2 home draw at the humble Victoria Park on the outskirts of Lancashire.
So why a mini-surprise? Because Chorley played against the team until the age of 23 of Derby. The reason: The club’s senior team has seen an outbreak of corona in recent days. The team players from the championship, including coach Wayne Rooney and the rest of the professional team, stayed at home and were not allowed to travel to the cup game. For all 11 players who have started in the Derby squad this was their first ever appearance in a senior team.

Chorley, by the way, has already been through three different teams (Wigan, Peterborough and now Derby) in the Cup, and can certainly boast the title of a giant killer. Conor Hall scored already in the tenth minute, Mike Calvelli doubled (84).
The game at Goodison Park between Everton from the Premier League and Rothham from the Championship went into extra time, after a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes. Turkish Tucson scored already in the ninth minute, but Matthew Olusunda equalized (56).
