Emmerdale to be the first soap to contain a coronavirus vaccine

Emmerdale is set as the first soap in which a character receives a coronavirus vaccine.

The sun reports that the ITV program will air a scene in March that sees Eric Pollard tell his son David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) that he has his first injection, meaning he will be able to spend more time with his grandson young, Theo.

Eric, a long-time resident of Dales, is played by 72-year-old actor Chris Chittell, and his age puts him in one of the top priority groups for vaccination in the UK.

It is hoped that the warm-hearted vision will encourage vaccination uptake.
