Africa CDC, the specialty health care body of the 55-member African Union, reported a 45 percent death rate in both countries.

To date, the group has reported 11 cases, four deaths and two treatments, while Guinea has confirmed 18 cases, nine deaths and two treatments, he said.

A new outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus infection in the two African countries is sending new jitters to Africa as the continent continues to be infected with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2014-2016 West African Ebola virus outbreak has claimed more than 11,300 lives, with more than 28,600 cases recorded.

Ebola is a highly contagious hemorrhagic fever that causes a number of symptoms including fever, vomiting, diarrhea, general pain or malaise and in many cases internal and external bleeding.
