The Buffalo Bills are the “real deal” and are set to become a “key player” in the AFC playoffs, according to former NFL quarterback Chris Simms.

The Bills are 10-3 on the season – currently taking possession of No. 3 seed in the AFC – after winning six of their last seven games, including a recent win impressive 26-15 over the Pittsburgh Steelers (11-2).

“They looked again [against the Steelers] that they are able to win games in different ways.

“I feel like they lost those games to the Titans and the Chiefs [in Week Five and Six] and they went, ‘we’re not where we thought we were well yet’ – that’s not at all in that class of the AFC.

“Since then, it’s been some really good football. They only lost on the ‘Hail Murray’ to the Cardinals, and they beat other good football teams along the way.

“They show they are undergoing a battle test. And they have an elite quarterback.

“It doesn’t always have to be a 350-yard Josh Allen air show; it’s a round football team and I think they’re a key player.

“They’re an official team in the top five in the NFL – I don’t expect them to fall from there in December – and they’re going to make some noise in the AFC playoffs.

One of the main reasons behind the turmoil in the Bills’ fortunes is that the wide receiver Stefon Diggs came through a trade from the Minnesota Vikings.

Diggs will lead the league in shows in 2020, skipping 1,167 receiving yards and five touchdowns as he has a brilliant understanding with quarterback Allen.

“Diggs are amazing,” Simms said. “He’s like one of those guys where there’s no weakness in his game; he’s a roundabout catcher.

“Julian Edelman, Wes Welker ‘s’ over the middle ‘stuff can do it, he’ s also a player because you can put it out and say ‘go’, turn it on the re-shooters and run with that guy. he will be in charge of doubles teams at times, and has a good feeling for the game.

“It fits schematically within their system but, also, when you have a superfreak like Allen, who’s going to be running around and making plays, it looks like it’s Diggs all the time at the end of those.

“He has a good feeling for where Allen wants to go. It’s a difficult combination to stop those two.”
