Bill Gates wants to do his part to try to reduce the impact of a warming planet. He has just published a book on climate change. He also seems to have been changing parts of his life to cut back on carbon emissions.

In Gates’ latest Ask-Me-Anything session on Reddit on Friday, one user asked a Microsoft co-founder what people can do to reduce their carbon emissions. Among other things, he suggested that people eat less.

Another user responded by asking what he is doing to eat less.

“On the personal side, I do a lot more,” Gates wrote. “I drive electric cars. I have solar panels at my house. I eat synthetic meat (some of the time!). I buy green air fuel. I pay for direct air capture with Climeworks. I help fund low cost electric heat pumps. the cost of housing instead of natural gas. “

November said Gates made headlines after saying more than half of the industry’s travels were expected to disappear after the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday he showed how that could appear in his own album.

“I expect to fly a lot less now that the pandemic has shown that we can recover with fewer trips,” he wrote. Microsoft makes the Teams app that allows employees to chat and meet on video calls. While Gates retired this year from Microsoft, he remains a Microsoft investor, and will continue to review products that the company is developing.

Gates also mentioned programs he is involved in to promote green efforts.

“I created Breakthrough Energy incorporating Venture, Fellows and Catalyst funds to help with climate,” he wrote. “For me, innovation is what will make it possible to provide services to everyone without emissions.”
