Arsenal bosses gave Mikel Arteta’s pocket message halfway through the defeat at Everton

Arsenal bosses were ordered to return and not bag Mikel Arteta half way through Arsenal ‘s case with Everton.

The Gunners are approaching the Premier League relegation zone and Arteta is under increasing pressure.

On Saturday Arsenal traveled to Goodison Park to take on Everton side Carlo Ancelotti.

But they came away in second-best spot, with Rob Holding’s own goal and boss Yerry Mina giving the Toffees all three points.

Jamie Carragher was asked what he thought of Arteta and whether he thought he should have his bag half way through the game on Sky Sports. And Liverpool’s legend jumped into the Spanish defense, saying the Gunners’ leader needs more time.

“For [Arsenal] to get back to where they want to be, they have to go through a lot of pain and they will do that, “the Liverpool midfielder said.

“They made two signings this season, Gabriel [Magalhaes], [Thomas] Partey, they could be a big part of Arsenal for years to come.

“But they need a few more players in the January transfer window. If Arteta can get six or seven players in it can be judged on the work it does.”

Lying into the Gunners’ hiring, which does not blame Arteta, he said: “The hiring has been very, very poor in recent years for Arsenal.”

Everton players mark Yerry Mina’s goal

Arteta knows better than anyone that he is under pressure to turn things around at Arsenal.

He spoke openly recently about the possibility of being on his sack, saying he knows his number will be called at some point.

“A day I decided to become a coach is something I know I will one day be on my bag or leave the football club,” Arteta said.

Arsenal have been in very poor shape

“I don’t know if it’s the day after I signed my contract, in a month, a year or six months. I’ll never have to worry about it.

“My only concern is to get the best out of the players, give the best service to the club and get better and better.

“I know, I say again, in this call, one day I’ll get the bag or I’ll leave but I don’t know when that’s going to happen.”
