Anthony Joshua is training for “a variety of techniques and tactics” that Tyson Fury can use, says trainer Joby Clayton.

Joshua and Fury have signed a two-fight deal to decide an undisputed heavyweight champion this year, in the biggest fight of a generation.

“It’s never too early to talk about basic game plans. We’re laying the foundations in preparation for camp,” Clayton, who works with Joshua head coach Rob McCracken, told Sky Sports.

“My job is to prepare AJ to the best of his ability. I know when AJ is an AJ, he’s a handyman for anyone.

“The most important thing is that it is self-focused.

“Fury is a very multi-tasking athlete so I personally aim for AJ, and what he brings to the table to fight against a number of tricks and tactics he could have.

“AJ is doing a fantastic job, training with incredible energy. This is a special time in his career. I’m excited to see what months ahead.

“I have a word; coaches need to get boxers for training, but they need to get champions to rest. We need to make sure AJ rests at the right times because he’s so enthusiastic.”

Fury has also worked with a number of different trains from Peter Fury to Ben Davison and now Sugarhill Steward.

Joshua has been training at his amateur gym in Finchley, north London, this week honing his skills.

Promoter Joshua Eddie Hearn has previously reported Sky Sports: “All parties have now put pen to paper and we will be working hard over the next few weeks to determine the site and date for the biggest boxing fight. . “

Hearn previously said of Joshua ‘s training: “While he would tell you that he is training just to be a fighter, I know he is thinking of Fury.

“He’s working on the plan to defeat this guy and to be honest.

“I like the work he’s doing, the improvements he’s making, the mindset.

“Mindset is a winner, a hero.

“Fury is a superhero but AJ will work on it.

“Preparation is starting now. Don’t think Fury isn’t doing the same thing. He knows. This is probably the biggest fight ever.”

Where and when?

Joshua and Fury mega-fights still want to confirm a date and location.

Joshua had told this before Sky News: “No choice. Home turf, Middle East, my backyard, your backyard. I don’t care where it is.

“I’m just ready to fight. I want that belt. I want to compete with Fury so that all options are open to me.”

Hearn previously said: “Absolutely, to give us any chance [of the fight being in the UK], we need full potential.

“We want to make sure this fight goes on for both fights. Both camps have a responsibility to get the most revenue for their biggest fight – it’s this is the pinnacle of positions, the greatest moment, nothing beats it.

“At the same time, we all recognize that these are two Brits fighting for undoubted world competition. Is there a way to make it in the UK? Great.”
