Helene Darroze at Connacht
Michelin announced two new three-star restaurants in London on Monday – both run by female chefs.
The prizes go to Hélène Darroze at Connacht and to Core with Clare Smyth. They are the first women in the UK to win three stars on their own, although Smyth was a three-star curator at the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, where she was previously a chef assistant.
“I think of all the women who work in kitchens, and I want to tell them what’s possible,” Darroze said when he received the award at an online event. “Just believe in yourself, and anything can happen.”

French-born Darroze opened her restaurant at the Connacht Hotel in 2008. She has two stars at her Paris premises. Smyth trained under Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse, but left Ramsay to open Core in 2017.
Another notable award was the second Michelin star for A. Wong, making it the UK’s first two-star Chinese restaurant. Da Terra and Restaurant, both in London, have received new recipients of two Michelin stars. Seven restaurants received new single stars. 23 restaurants also received a new green star award for their sustainable approach to gastronomy.
The Michelin Guide to Britain and Ireland is being published at a time when UK restaurants are closed due to coronavirus infection. Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered premises to close on March 23, and there have been two more locks since then.
“Why if we launch a guide and deliver Stars?” Michelin said in a statement. “We want to promote the industry as much as we can. We want to celebrate the many amazing restaurants in Britain and Ireland and the very talented chefs and rescuers. We want to light up our business. ”
Michelin said it began work on the guidelines in August 2019 and that much was accomplished before it was locked out. Michelin has delayed publication, and this year’s guide will only be online, which allowed for late updates. They said no briefs had been taken and there was no change in standards.
Michelin also announced 16 new Bib Gourmand awards, including seven in London. A total of 126 Bib Gourmand restaurants are in the new direction, known for offering good food at competitive prices.
Three stars are awarded for “great food, well worth a special trip,” Michelin says. “Our highest award is given for outstanding culinary cooking at the highest level.” Two stars represent “excellent cooking, worth a detour. ”There is one star for“ high quality cooking, worth stopping by. ” Michelin also has the Bib Gourmand, an award-winning division for high-value, inexpensive restaurants.
The French manufacturer first made its debut in 1900. It was free until 1920 and was for carriers. The book contained practical information, including street maps and tire repair suggestions.
Below is a list of the winners in the three-star and two-star categories, the one-star venues in London, and the new Bib Gourmands spots, or good value.
