Not every day in Brooklyn. Danny Abdia tonight (Thursday-Friday) hosted his second preseason game in the NBA, which ended in a 86-97 result for Detroit over Washington. Abdia played 32 minutes and finished with 7 points (3 of 8 from the field, 0 of 4 for three and 1 of 3 from the penalty spot), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and also three turnovers.

In contrast to the debut game against Brooklyn, this time Scott Brooks decided to start in a top five with Isak Bonga at the expense of Abdia, in order to refresh the rotation and examine who is most deserving to get the reins at position 3 when the season begins. Either way, the opening was the same as the one in front of the Hunts. Against the Pistons Washington also fell behind already in the opening, and even Bradley Bill (10 points) who returned to the floor could not stop the collapse.

04:14 minutes to the end of the first quarter Abdia came off the bench and for the first time he was involved – good things happened. The Israeli snatched a pass from Josh Jackson (led the scenes with 17 points) and quickly dribbled along the entire court and finished bursting with a basket after a great finish from the left with his right hand. In the following minutes he managed to record his first miss in the NBA (four in a row) and at the half-time break the diamond stood at two points while the Wizards were 58:35 behind.

In the second half the forward got almost 20 minutes, and finished with five points that included two beautiful penetrations. Washington managed to make up for the difference mostly in Garbage Time, but she would not want to remember this game, which she finished with 9 of 34 off the arc. Just before they meet Philadelphia in the first game of the season, the Wizards will once again host the Pistons Saturday through Sunday, hoping to secure a first preseason victory. Whoever might join the celebration, is Russell Westbrook.
